Hey there pals! Back at it again with a more light-hearted post this time. Have you ever been a cashier? Well I have for three years and I mostly hate it. Walmart is an evil place to work (for the most part), and it leaves little room for having fun.
My twin sister and I used to work on the front end together and we used to dance and roll pennies from one self checkout to the other, but more recently my sister has moved away from the front end. She went on to bigger and better things now. She works in menswear which is where I want to be moved to. It’s no fun without her up there with me. So I’m gonna tell you what I hate about being a cashier! Lets get into it.

1.Unauthorized Questions
Sometimes a customer will come up to me with a question that is out of my field of knowledge. They usually ask me to call over a manager if I cannot answer the question and to that I usually want to ask them why they didn’t just ask a front end manager to begin with. They’re constantly walking around on the front end and if you don’t see them walking the floor then you can find them at the customer service desk. Cashiers don’t know everything, despite what most people may think.
2. Ask Me to Bag Something
See now… I am a cashier. It is my job to bag things. If you want something bagged that normally wouldn’t be bagged by most people, just ask and I’ll do it. I’m there for a reason. I don’t want to see you struggle to bag something or get annoyed that I didn’t bag your jug of water. I’ll do pretty much anything to make a customer happy but if you don’t ask then I wont do it.

3. Triple Bagging
Sometimes I will see that a customer is double bagging all of their stuff, possibly because they have to go up flights of stairs and they don’t want anything to fall through. Usually if I see this happening I will follow suit and start double bagging their stuff. But, what annoys me is when I start double bagging their stuff and then the customer proceeds to start triple bagging some things because they haven’t caught on to the fact that I am double bagging their stuff for them. Open your eyes!
4. Personal Stories
Please don’t tell me that your husband died of cancer. It makes me sad and I don’t like to be sad on the job.
5. Children Who Spin the Bagging Carousel
Keep control of your kids please. If I am bagging your things and your kid spins the bagging carousel, it’s holding both of us back. Your stuff wont be bagged properly, I might whack your kid in the face, and its taking more time out of your day. If you keep control of your kids, I’ll get you out of this insane asylum in no time.

6. Breaks
As a cashier at Walmart you don’t get to choose when you go to break. The breaks are spaced out every 2 hours; however, I got sent to lunch an hour early today and then had to deal with 5 hours on the second half of my shift. This happens to me a lot and it pisses me off ya know? Walmart’s scheduling and system basically just sucks.
7. Ma’am There’s Only One Register Open
Excuse me but I don’t make the schedules, the manager does. So… take it up with him if you can find him. It’s a scheduling issue.
8. Unnecessary Yelling
Um one time I had a lady yell at me and tell me I didn’t know how to do my job because of a coupon. A COUPON?! The coupon wasn’t for the right item and I tried to tell her that… she proceeded to scream at me like inches away from my face until a manager came over and then they gave it to her anyway just to get her out of the store.

9. Getting Scammed
I got scammed twice. The first time was by two women who didn’t speak any English and the second time was by someone in a Walmart vest. You cant trust anyone nowadays haha. Both times I got scammed it was for about 900 dollars and I got coached for it both times. That just sucked and I cried a lot.
10. Standing All Day
I’ve had back problems since I was about 10 years old because of softball. It honestly hurts my feet and my back so much from standing all day and lifting heavy things. Right now my feet are throbbing from a long day of work and I just can’t STAND it. (lol) All jokes aside it really does take a toll on my back and my feet to stand in one spot for hours at a time.

Walmart makes me want to cry. But I need money.
